RIIWHS204D Work Safely at Heights public course dates for January 2020 are now available from Height Safety Engineers.

RIIWHS204D Work Safely at Heights is an introductory course for those working in areas where there is a risk of sustaining injury or death through a fall from height.

The course teaches participants the basics of relevant legislation and standards covering height safety, performing a risk assessment and installation of control measures. It also covers identification of suspension trauma after a fall, how to correctly fit and use a fall arrest harness as well as introducing a range of different fall arrest systems.

Participants also gain knowledge around safely using tools while working at height, how to select the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) to use plus how to inspect their PPE before and after work to ensure it is kept in best operational condition and functioning correctly.

Height Safety Engineers will run training courses for the nationally recognised RIIWHS204D Work Safely at Heights qualification during November 2019.

This training course is crucial for those working at heights on roofs or other elevated areas where a height safety system may have been installed.

During the course, participants will learn skills around identification of hazards that may be present when working at heights, state and federal legislation that covers safe work practices, various categories of personal protective equipment that may be used while working at heights as well as that equipment’s limitations.

RIIWHS204D Work Safely at Heights will also teach participants how to inspect equipment before and after use to ensure it maintains working order.

Participants will also learn how to identify suspension trauma, using tools in a safe manner while working at heights, installation of roof safety systems and safe placement of loads on roofs.

The RIIHAN301E Operate Elevating Work Platform course offered by Height Safety Engineers applies only for elevated platforms under 11 metres.

Our course covers boom-type elevating work platform means a telescoping device, hinged device, or articulated device, or any combination of these, used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated.

We focus on the operation of a boom-type elevating work platform, however use of a scissor-style lift can be arranged, if required, upon request. Please contact us on 1300 884 978 for more information.

The operate elevating work platform course teaches participants about planning work, conducting routine maintenance checks, operation of the platform and safely making sure everything is shut down and secure at the end of the day.

RIIWHS204D Work Safely at Heights is a course for anyone that will be working on a roof or other raised area as part of their job. It provides an understanding of how to correctly use fall protection equipment in range of working at heights environments.

This course gives participants the skills to identify the hazards created from working at heights, an understanding of key legislation around safe work methods, introduces the various categories of personal protective equipment used while working at heights plus their limitations.

Participants will also learn how to properly carry out pre- and post-work inspection of equipment to ensure it is kept in full working order.

RIIHAN301E Operate elevating work platform provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to operate an elevating work platform under 11 metres.

Please note the work required in this unit relates to the National Standard for High Risk Work but this unit does not provide the licence.

The course covers boom-type elevating work platform means a telescoping device, hinged device, or articulated device, or any combination of these, used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated.

Our course focuses on the operation of a boom-type elevating work platform; however, we may also deliver this course using a scissor lift type upon request.
