Both 10675NAT Course in Asbestos Awareness and 10559NAT Course in Working Safely in Asbestos Containing Materials are important to have completed if your work has you in places with a high risk of being contaminated with asbestos.

In the ACT, it is compulsory for any worker who may come into contact with asbestos or asbestos containing material to hold both these qualifications. This includes those working in the building, construction, plumbing and plant maintenance industries.

Operate Elevating Work Platform Training Courses | September Course Dates

Height Safety Engineers will be running classes for RIIHAN301E Operate elevating work platform (under 11m) training course during September.

RIIHAN301E Operate elevating work platform provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to operate an elevating work platform under 11 metres.

Please note the work required in this unit relates to the National Standard for High Risk Work but this unit does not provide the licence.

The course covers boom-type elevating work platform means a telescoping device, hinged device, or articulated device, or any combination of these, used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated.

Our course focuses on the operation of a boom-type elevating work platform; however, we may also deliver this course using a scissor lift type upon request.

First aid and CPR training provides the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Successful completion of the first aid and CPR training course qualifies participants to be a first aid representative in their workplace and other required situations.

The first aid and CPR course is highly practical and focuses on real-life scenarios that the participant can put into practice.

Fire Warden Training Courses | September Course Dates

Height Safety Engineers will be running classes for their fire warden training course during September.

Fire warden training introduces students to various types of portable firefighting equipment commonly found in work environments and covers how to correctly and safely handle and use fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets. This fire warden training course meets WHS obligations for an organisation to ensure its workforce is competent in using the portable fire extinguishers on your site.

Participants in the fire warden training course will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to recognise emergencies in the workplace, to report emergencies, to take appropriate action, to raise the alarm and how to evacuate building occupants safely. The course includes both a theory and practical component to ensure that successful participants can safely attend workplace fire incidents.

Height Safety Engineers will be running RIIWHS204D Work Safely at Heights training courses on multiple dates throughout September at both their Sydney and Melbourne training facilities.

The RIIWHS204D Work Safely at Heights course looks to provide students with the comprehensive understanding of how to correctly use fall protection equipment in a range of environments. In this course, students will learn to identify the hazards of work at height, understand key legislation, and understand the various categories of personal fall prevention and protection equipment including their characteristics and limitations.

These courses allow participants to obtain nationally recognised qualifications in the identification and reporting of asbestos as well as safely working with asbestos. Completion of these courses is compulsory for people in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) who may come into contact with asbestos or asbestos containing material as part of their work in the building, construction, plumbing and plant maintenance industries.

10675NAT Course in Asbestos Awareness is a compulsory qualification for all workers in the ACT who an employer or other Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU) believes will work with asbestos or asbestos containing material.

10559NAT Course in Working Safely with Asbestos Containing Materials is a mandatory qualification in the ACT for all workers in the following occupations:

  • Air-conditioning and mechanical services plumber
  • Air-conditioning and refrigeration mechanic
  • Cabler (data and telecommunications)
  • Electrical or telecommunications trade assistant
  • Electrician (general and special class
  • Gas fitter
  • Plumber (general)
  • Plumber’s assistant
  • Telecommunications technician

The ACT Government also requires that any other person who may come into contact with asbestos or asbestos containing material in the course of their work have this qualification.
